Looks like everyone gave up on CS 4000 which is a shame it's a great receiver but from the looks of it it's nothing more then a door stopper and it has been for a while now, unfortunately.

Default major problem with r-link

there is a major problem with r-link.too much electronics in too small a package with no way for air to circulate.i,ve lost one already.i,ve been into electronics for forty one years and i see this problem every day.you put that amount of ic,s in such a small package with no air flow soldered with garbage lead free solder which is a second problem and you can except problems.my first one didn,t last two mts.blew out easter sunday.my second one is now out of the case just layin on the shelf with lots of air flow.stupid me with all my experience not checking the first one.if i had i would have removed it from the case right away.some of you probally had yours longer with no problem.its not if.its when.if you leave it in the case at some time it will burn out.its like buying a cheep dvd player.some people get a few days out of them, others get five years.with the r-link you are on the few days side.dont take a chance. remove it from the plastic case.its only five volts dc,woulden hurt a flee.when it does burn out try getting hold where you bought it.no service after the sale.one real good thing about r-link is its the most stable unit on the market.if they could redesign the case,go back to lead solder they would have a good unit.

Hay - Boudreaud - I'd like to take a look at your old burned out unit. Could you post a picture of it out of the plastic case? and or also would you be willing to send it to me, I'll pay the shipping..

Thank you for that information, something to keep in mind. R-Link has been very stable since it was released and i know a lot off ppl are buying it so this is definitely useful information.

when taking apart an r-link with heat problems its like taking apart an xbox 360 or sony ps3.very rare to see damage but any one who has worked on these units knows its heat related.dont have to see any damage in the r-link to know its heat related.been working on dlp,s and lcd,s sence they came out.see the same problem with them and also in dash dvd players.too much electronics in too small a package with no air flow.i can tell you right now with the heat of summer comming on more and more r-links will stop working because of the bad design of the case.most heat related problems today happen within the ics or heat lifting the ics up from the board which cant be seen.this is not a topic to argu about.you can leave your r-link in the case if you want to but there will come a time when you will see i am right.by using the term burnt out does not mean you can see damage. that phrase can be used many ways.in the case of the r-link the ic,s are over heating from lack of air flow.

Still waiting for some pictures of the bad unit from you, or send the unit to me, as I said before I will pay the shipping.
