Yes you would need new equipment in order to get sat 123 W. You have two options ( depending on your location ) and here they are.

Galaxy 10 C-band (123w)
Dish: 6ft
LNB: C-band

Galaxy 10 Ku-band (123w)
Dish: 30" (1.2m Hawaii/Canada/Carribbean)
LNB: Linear

Hope this answers your question. I will upload a list of all Dish & LNB requirements for each North American satellite i am sure that will help a lot of people. Here is the link for that list. Dish & LNB requirements for each North American satellite

I posted above what kind of dish and LNB you need for 123 W.You need Linear LNB, more info about LNB's can be found here Skew, Dish & LNB - Understanding it, How to set it and here LNB Identification Pictures - LNB Types

Viewsat isn't the best receiver to get true fta but it does work. Sometimes different sat's will show differently on some receivers. But if it says 123 W on Galaxy 18 on your VS PVR that is where that sat would be found on your receiver. One thing you got to keep in mind these true fta birds have much weaker signals then DN and BEV so you have to patient when looking for one. And of course the bigger the dish the easier they are to find, motorised dish is ideal for true fta birds but they can be found with out a motor as well.
