Default How-To Check if your FTA Receiver is Connected to IKS

There are several ways to determine if a network device is connected to your LAN (local area network). The simplest way is to do a ping test.
A ping test can be performed on any computer as long as you know the IP address your network device is using.
A successful ping test can rule out conectivity issues so you can move onto other potental issues like software.
A failed ping test will indicate there is something wrong with your router settings or your physical conections.
To do a ping test click on the start menu on XP or the windows pearl in Vista pull up the run menu.

In the run menu type cmd to get the Dos screen

In the Dos screen type ping and the IP your network device is using then hit enter. (there has to be a space between the ping and the IP or the test won’t work)
If you have a successful ping you will get a reply from the network device with a cycle time in milliseconds

If you have a failed ping it will time out, and you will get a host unreachable reply
