Is it true that inside info from dn or bev is needed to brake the code and is it true that the current versions of fta recievers will not work if nag3 is broken. Heard this today from a DN salesman.

Probably so there has never been a hack for DTV.They had inside info on the rom cards and N3 is a tweaked N1 and N2.No standalone only receivers are working. If they hack N3 standalones will be back up.

Inside info will definitely help and that's usually how coders crack codes. As far fta receivers goes, older models probably won't work but newer ones should be fine once N3 is cracked.

Just wondering which model receivers will not be able to work if and when a fix is created. Viewsat Xtreme is the box that i use,do you think it will be safe,or should i look into getting a newer box. Thanks

I would say all models that are discontinued but not sure. The Xtreme was still getting standalone fixes when we were able to so it may be possible. If I were to buy a new receiver now I would go with the only thing going now IKS.I would not buy a receiver now that cannot get DN or Bev without IKS.

I would think all clones will not get fixes again which i don't mind anyways. Never liked clones anyhow, and older models. Memory will be a big issue a lot of old boxes will not be able to handle newer files due to lack of memory ram. But it all depends on coders camp, some boxes might have to be converted to newer models and use their files. Hard to say if VS Xtreme will be supported or not, i know there is a lot of them still around so there is a chance that VS camp will still try to support them. Time will tell.
