The consensus within the community is that once again Viewsat N3 Fix rumours have taken over despite common sense. Some highly acclaimed sites within the underground FTA community are hinting at a standalone fix for the popular Viewsat line this week. Now, we could be dead wrong, but we doubt it seriously. There has been virtually no movement in the standalone fix arena for Nagravision 3. Usually, plastic based solutions would be the first to see any progress. Some work is being done in regards to emulating new cards on the old, but have so far been proven to work only with card sharing which is very much like IKS and is by no means standalone. However, every once in a while we get suprised by the hard work of others. We will let you know on the FTA Toolbar alert system if there is any new standalone Viewsat N3 fix or files for Dish or Bev working for Nagravision 3 encrypted content should something come up and be confirmed to work. Still, we think getting your hopes up on a Viewsat N3 fix that works in October of 2009 will do little more than crush your hopes and dreams.
Viewsat spokespersons have already come out saying the rumours of an N3 fix for Viewsat are false. However, with the recent legal actions against Viewsat for pursuing such a fix it is doubtful it would come from anyone having a direct relationship with Viewsat. Since the switch to Nagravision 3, the original team suporting Viewsat declared they would never seek a Viewsat IKS solution and pursue only a standalone fix. With all the hype regarding a rumoured release this time around, many Viewsat owners will hopefully learn once and for all that Nagravision 3 is a tough one to crack, and no fixes are likely anytime soon. As for sites that declare undoubtedly that there will be a fix, we say, "Same on you!"

thats not very good news

I know I'm not the sharpest fella (proof is in all my spelling mistakes), but here's my take on n3 and stand-alone fixes. This "smart card" is a system in contstant comunication with itself, making bins useless. I agree that until we see progress in the plastic part, until we see "stand-alones" that are allowed evolve and adapt, we're just holding on to our beta-max, 8-track or any outdated analogy of your choice. Like I said, I know my limitations. I love checking this site daily. When someone throws a carrot in front of my nose, I'll chase it for a while. I just sometimes think that we've reached this crossroad between technology, legal issues, and the stubbornness of humanity, that wants(needs) to use the same reasoning pattern from problem to solution. Times-are-a-changing people, but one thing will not-people that make a lot of money want to make more! These companies really want our money!
Once again, I'm tauntingly negative for a reason, I have all of you in mind. Usually when I come to a conclusion like this, life will tell me to know my role. Which in this forum is just asking questions, not making comments like I really know anything.
In summary, since I'm getting a subscription, y'all can look forward to a fix coming soon.

Guys, try to keep straight who is who and what is what.

Viewsat is a STB manufacturer in Korea, they are not going out of business. They have a very profitable TRUE FTA market in Europe and elsewhere. True FTA just isn't available much in North America.

ViewTech is a company that imports Viewsat STBs for resale in North America. They have been caught funding the cracking of Nagravision and the owner and some other individuals are under federal indictments for violating the DMCA.

The Viewtech Coders are an underground coding group and are neither of the companies listed above.

The splash page site is the the official release website for the Viewsat Coders and has announced a file release.

If no file is released, they will have lost all credibility. (Like most other sites have).

This provides no information about what the Coders are up to. This has nothing to do with the Viewtech lawsuit. This has nothing to do with Viewsat STB manufacturer.

So that is my take on it. If it happens great if not I still watch all the tv i want one way or another..

VS distributer Mr. Kwak is under indictment on criminal charges, i don't think VS needs any more attention right now. Some are saying that VS site has been hacked, who knows but one thing is for sure there will be no exact date on when a new fix will be released it will just happen.

Ya if the site was hacked than it would have to be by somebody that was still allowing telefonica fixs to be released, the waiting continoues...

Telefonica is still N2 and DN doesn't care about that provider. Telefonica fixes are the only thing that still keeps VS in the fta game ............. and rumors lol

all this just keeps ya wondering... when is the darkness going to end? Well, I can tell you it will be when we get home from Florida and my hubby still has just basic cable TV. <grin> So, the darkness will end with upgraded cable service. He's tired of rumors and I'm holding out but I have to make him happy! <big old grin> LOL
