Default Almost There...So Close and Let So Far

Thanks Zero Gravity,

I did just that. Everything is working fine except I don't have all the channels that I had before. I've scanned just about every satellite available on the list and ended up with a lot of duplicates to clean out. However, I'm missing History, Science, Discovery, FoxD, not to mention an assortment of 'nice' channels to have. I do have a lot of good movie channels, but I was spoiled by what I originally had while suffering the picture freezing problem.

When I did the factory setup I used two of the files posted. One had three bin files that I did separately while cold booting after each....and the second time I tried the other file that was labeled a clean-out file. Which set should I have used? I noticed that I still had autoroll on the menu which I didn't have when I received the box. So, it didn't seem to put everything back to factory specs.

I think Dish has 110 and 119 designations on the original box, but the Sonicview makes you guess by using names like Echostar 7 and Echostar 8,x. I scanned 7, 8,x and 5. From what I recall, the channels I'm missing were on Echostar 8,x.

I've spent so much time on this project that I think I'll take a day off before trying again! I'll come back and hopefully you guys can point out a simple mistake I'm making so I can crack a brew, lay back and watch for a change. In the mean time I guess I should be happy with what I have! Thanks for the help so far.

TIA Kozman

There is no point scanning all those birds. I would do factory reset and scan 110 and 119,try blind scan this time. Little slower but it will give you more channels.

Default Problem Solved!!!!

I tried blind scan and I got an error message...'blind scan not supported in this module'.

I Googled 'blind scan' for the HD-8000 and came up with an article that gave the correct antenna scan settings for 110. The only difference between what I had was DiESqC to Port 2. I got over 300 channels compared to 65 before. (300? I'll have to go look what I got for 300! LOL!). For 119, use Port 1 for DiESqC. Now I'm going to look up what DiESqC means!!!

This might be worth a sticky somewhere in the HD-8000 section, as well as possibly a note on the March 21 patch warning of possible picture freeze and what to do if it happens.

Thanks for the great response. Keep up the good work!

DiESqC Switch is the switch that splits signal from 2 LNB's into one and sends it to the receiver. You should write down your setting so you know which port is used for which sat. Glad to hear you got it working, happy testing.
